The Beethoven Orchestra Bonn is back in Beethovenhalle!
Did you know that the Beethoven Orchestra Bonn has been housed in Beethovenhalle since its very first inauguration? In 1959, it performed Beethoven's 9th Symphony for the opening concert, whose phrase "All men shall become brothers" is engraved in Beethovenhalle's foundation stone. In 2016, Beethovenhalle closed for renovation and the Beethoven Orchestra Bonn had to relocate. Now it's back - in a Beethovenhalle that, after renovation, meets all acoustic requirements of a modern concert hall and makes artists' hearts beat faster.
Bonn boasts a rich and dynamic history – from Roman legions who founded their camp here over two millennia ago, bestowing the city's name, through its era as Germany's federal capital, to today's vibrant, culturally diverse metropolis. While globally recognized as Ludwig van Beethoven's birthplace, Bonn offers far more: a thriving university city, home to over 20 United Nations organizations and prestigious corporations, plus a cultural hub featuring world-class museums.
Throughout recent decades, Bonn has repeatedly transformed itself. Beethovenhalle reflects this evolution perfectly. Conceived as a musical tribute to Beethoven, it later served as a venue for crucial political assemblies during Germany's federal years – including presidential elections. Today, Beethovenhalle has returned to its roots: music, culture, and human connection. Much like the remarkable city embracing it.
