Overview

Concerts, guest appearances, conferences, fairs or carnival shows, the Beethovenhalle offers a space right for any occasion and for every event for 20 to 2,000 participants.

The Beethovenhalle is the place of residence of the Beethoven Orchester Bonn and an important part of cultural life in the Federal City of Bonn, the birth place of Ludwig van Beethoven. Every year there are many concerts in the Beethovenhalle as part of the Beethoven Festival, as well as many guest appearances, parties and balls. Conferences, conventions and fairs complete the spectrum of events that the Beethovenhalle hosts.

The initiative for the construction of the first Beethovenhalle started with Franz Liszt in the 19th century on the occasion of the first Beethoven Festival and the current Beethovenhalle was opened in 1959. In 1996 it underwent substantial reconstruction, extension and modernisation.

The Beethovenhalle is to be the main venue for the 2020 commemoration of Ludwig van Beethoven, celebrating 250 years since the birth of the great composer. Preparations for the event will include a complete refurbishment and modernisation of the concert hall. The refurbishment works have begun in October 2016 and should be completed by the autumn of 2018. The venue will not be in use throughout this period.
